Geoffrey Buckle Returns to Ethiopia

Geoffrey Buckle, a first-year medical student at the University of Massachusetts, traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from December 27th through January 3rd to work with Hospice Ethiopia.

The hospice was founded in 2003 and is dedicated to providing palliative care to those in need in Addis Ababa and surrounding areas. The purpose of Geoff’s visit was to develop a computer-based data management system to assist Hospice Ethiopia staff to track patient diagnoses, appointments, services delivered and additional core medical data. The information from the database will be used to improve the care delivery process. During the summer of 2011, Geoff worked with INCTR USA and the Tikur Anbessa Hospital in Addis Ababa to establish systems to improve documentation on pediatric cancer patients seen at the hospital.
