Great achievements for Ethiopian nurses

The INCTR USA and Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) twinning project is proud to announce that two collaborating nurses at Tikur Anbessa Specialty Hospital, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia have had their abstract accepted at international meetings.

Sr. Asabech, head nurse had an abstract, co-authored with nurses Azeb Seifu, Getu Yitna, Girmay Gebreagzabher, accepted for oral presentation at SIOP 44th Congress in London, England in October, 2012.

"Ethiopian Nurses Caring for Children with Cancer and their Families: Challenges and Rewards"

Nurse Mesfin, head nurse of adult oncology, has had an abstract accepted for the 17th International Conference of Cancer Nursing in Prague, Czech Republic in September 2012.

In addition, Nurse Abebe, head nurse of adult hematology at Tikur Anbessa Specialty Hospital, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia attended the 8th European Congress on Hematological Malignancies/From Clinical Science to Clinical Practice in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in February 2012.

INCTR and GUMC are proud of the achievements of all the nurses working with patients with cancer at Tikur Anbessa Specialty Hospital and are delighted that they have the opportunity to share their experiences with colleagues and other health professionals at international meetings. The two organizations are certain that information learned at these conferences will translate into improved nursing care back home in Addis Ababa.
