3rd International Cancer Control Congress, Cernobbio, Italy, November 8-12, 2009

The 3rd International Cancer Control Congress was held at Villa Erba in Cernobbio, Italy from November 8th through the 12th. During the congress, INCTR led a Pediatric Oncology Workshop which was devoted to the discussion of specific questions, listed below, pertaining to the management of children with cancer in resource-constrained environments.
1. What principles underlie optimal pediatric cancer care outcomes and how can they be made practical and implementable in resource constrained environments?
2. How can effective capacity to manage children with cancer be achieved in remote and resource constrained environments?
3. Are ‘levels of care’ appropriate and achievable in resource constrained environments? Discuss.
4. What are the attitudes and practices regarding management of pediatric oncology patients in your country? Discuss challenges and opportunities.

Opinions and comments of the participants will be included in the main report of the congress. This report will be made available by the organizers of the meeting in the coming weeks. Please feel free to provide us with your views and comments on these important questions on the INCTR News wiki site at: http://inctr-news.wikidot.com/forum/t-199783/inctr-coordinated-pediatric-oncology-workshops.
