Kinderkankerfonds Pediatric Oncology Program

Representatives of Kinderkankerfonds, a Belgian foundation visited the pediatric oncology program,
led by INCTR’s Trish Scanlan and decided to provide financial support for the program. In June 2011, Kinderkankerfonds made an agreement to provide the pediatric oncology program at Muhimbili National Hospital salaries for nursing staff and a social worker, ongoing play therapy services, visiting experts and chemotherapy and other medicines for the children. Kinderkankerfonds recently donated four blood pressure machines which are now being used on both the in-patient and out-patient pediatric oncology wards.

Kinderkankerfonds is a Belgian non-profit organization, established by Professor Yves Benoit, the
Head of the Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Department, Ghent University Hospital - the leading pediatric cancer center in Belgium. Kinderkankerfonds was established to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and their families. For more than 20 years, it has been supporting the pediatric oncology ward at the Ghent University Hospital, the families of children with cancer in Flanders, and research in the pediatric hemato-oncology.
