* INCTR /ESO Pilot Egyptian Database Project

A report on the two year INCTR /ESO Pilot Egyptian Database Project was presented at the 10th International Congress on Medical Librarianship in Brisbane, Australia (31 August - 4 September 2009) by Mark Lodge, INCTR Director for Programme Development. Co-directed by Mark Lodge and Dr Atef Badran at the National Cancer Institute of NCI Cairo the project has successfully demonstrated INCTR's methodology for identifying reports of non-indexed papers appearing in journals published in low and middle income countries and making them more accessible . Over 1350 Egyptian studies have been identified of which more than half have not been previously indexed on major biomedical databases. The completed pilot database will eventually be accessible through the University of Cairo website. Response to Mark's
presentation was positive with follow up enquiries coming from delegates from Qatar, China and India.
