Pain and Palliative Care Course in Hyderabad, India
The MNJ Institute of Oncology in Hyderabad, India held its 20th Pain and Palliative Care Course in
September 2011. The participants in this one-month certificate course included two doctors, two
volunteers and one social worker. Dr Maryann Mucaden, Head, Department of Palliative Care and
Professor, Department of Radiation Oncology at the Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai, India served as
an external faculty member from September 20th – 22nd. She taught sessions on various topics including dyspnea, delirium, anxiety and depression in palliative care. These sessions were highly interactive. She also moderated case presentations made by the students and she participated in the students’ bed-side learning activities.
