Pediatrician from Bugando Medical Center Undergoes Training at Muhimbili National Hospital

Dr. Valerie Karegi Ntoinya, a pediatrician working at the Bugando Medical Center (BMC) in Mwanza, Tanzania underwent a 5-day orientation to INCTR’s protocol for the treatment of Burkitt Lymphoma (BL) in June. Her orientation took place at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) under the supervision of Dr. Trish Scanlan who heads INCTR’s pediatric oncology program in Tanzania. Dr. Ntoinya will be responsible for the care of the children enrolled on the protocol at BMC. Having a center of excellence in pediatric cancer care at MNH allows for training of health care professionals involved in the care of children with cancer to be conducted within the country.
