In June 2017, Melissa Adde (Executive Director, INCTR, Brussel) and Ama Rohatinor (Trustee, INCTR Challenge fund) undertook the long journey to St Mary's Hospital, Lacor, to assess the status of the INCTR project, which has been ongoing there since 2005. The major issues for review were early diagnosis and the completeness of follow up. The measurement of survival rate is one of the primary measures of success, but the long distances that must be traveled by potential patients, before a diagnosis of malignant disease has been made and the need or subsequent followup visits all too often prove to be major issues when the territory is heavily forested or subsistence farms are a long way from anything resembling a tarmacadam road. This issue will be addressed in the coming months.
